The End of An Era
The Miracle Blanket has been retired...for those of you that don't know, the Miracle Blanket is a swaddling blanket that my friends Kelsey and Sandy told me about. This blanket is a life saver. I don't know how mothers sleep at night who don't have their newborns wrapped in these! The great thing about the blankets is how well they keep the baby's arms down by their sides so they don't startle themselves. For several weeks now Jack has been worming his arms out of the blanket in the middle of the night. I would check the monitor around 3:30 am and he would just have the blanket wrapped around his waist. Last night I decided to save him the trouble and not even wrap him up. After about 5 minutes of talking to himself in the dark Jack was asleep. I was so relieved!! He always fell asleep so quickly being wrapped up I was worried he wouldn't be able to fall asleep and think it was play time. He didn't sleep quite as long...woke up at 4:30 am instead of 6 but was able to eat and fall back asleep.
Rice Cereal
We started Jack on rice cereal about a week ago. We didn't really need him to sleep any better (he sleeps about 10 hours a night) but he was about to reach the 4 month mark. He was a champ the first time eating it! He was leaning into the spoon and grunting because he wasn't getting it fast enough! It was really funny. Since that first feeding Gabe and I have gotten better at feeding him and even set up the high chair which makes life much easier. It is crazy to think this little baby we brought home 4 months ago is sitting up in a high chair eating from a spoon!
On a side note...as of today Jack weighs 19 lbs! This kid doesn't miss any meals! :)

Ready to Roll
We have been working on getting Jack to roll for a couple of weeks now. I have several videos of Jack on his stomach having a fit because he can't roll over. He swings his hips back, but his arm always gets in the way. Gabe propped him up today on his elbows and he started rolling over like there was nothing to it! He still can't roll while he is flat on his stomach or from his back to his stomach, but he is starting to figure it out!

| There he goes! I should have cleared the laundry out of the way before taking pictures. Oops! |

California Trip
Jack and I took our first road trip together (with the help of Joe) to California. Scott and Joy were having a housewarming party and the only people who couldn't make the trip were Gabe and Danielle. We had a pretty good AZ showing over there. It was nice to see where they live and hang out with everyone. Their house is really nice and the town they live in is really pretty. Jack was a great car companion! He slept in 4 hour stretches and then would wake up to eat and be changed. Joe was a huge help on the drive. He cancelled his flight so he could go with Jack and I and I am so thankful he did! We had quite the adventure in the car on the way home...don't always trust your gps, it might not always give you the "easiest" route to take!!

| Our first stop was in Indio...had a hard time finding a gas station and Joe was not a fan of the town |

Babysitter's
Gabe returned back to work this week on a somewhat modified schedule. Since he doesn't have to be at the field as early as normal he is taking Jack to the babysitter's house in the morning and picking him up on the way home. Jack has adjusted well to his new daytime activities...he even went to the library this morning for Baby Steps. Stephanie says he is really doing well except for the fact that he fights taking a nap (shocker!). This is what Gabe gets to pick up every afternoon while I am still working...it's just not fair!

The End of Daddy Day Care
Gabe has been taking care of Jack since I had to go back to work. He was fortunate enough to have almost a month off with him. I loved having Gabe home (even though I was extremely jealous) because I could go to work knowing Jack was in great hands. I also got alot of really great pictures and videos of Jack. :) The boys had a great time playing, talking, going to breakfast, and going to Costco together. I know Gabe will have a tough time dropping Jack off at the sitters on Monday morning...

Shots :(
Jack had to go in for his 2 month old appointment today and get his shots. Gabe took him which is fine with me...he gets to be the bad guy and I get to be the good guy. :) Jack was a little trooper after some big tears and ended up falling asleep on the way home. The doctor said he is very healthy and large baby...he weighs 13.5 lbs = 92%, he is 23.5 inches long = 83%, and his head is 41.5 = 86%! If this keeps up I am going to have to get a second job to afford groceries for both Jack and Gabe!
